Painted in Piedmont, Italy during the second year of a serious drought. A relentless hot sun and dry wind became menacing and I think many people really began to take notice of climate change. I have painted two “black stones of Ormea” standing up with open mouths but they are only filled with sand. The sun has been distorted and an ominous, one-eyed cleaver shape threatens the figures below it.
