During January of 2021 there was still a strict lockdown in Piedmont as Italy did her best to slow down the Covid pandemic. The feeling of being isolated was compounded by heavy snow.

I began to look at the electricity pylons and telephone wires in the field below the studio quite differently than I had ever done before as we became were so glad to be able to talk to friends and kin around the world on the internet and send letters by email. I painted the mountains as having a dream-like quality because the situation felt so surreal.
