This is about walking down the road below our house to gather fallen, time-bleached beech sticks. When stripped of bark the sticks are a beautiful silvery pink colour which led me to choose the colours in this composition. When remembering the afternoon’s expedition, lying in the dark later that evening, before going to sleep, I thought of the hairpin bends of the road, the tilled fields under snow and pockets of mixed woodland then next day I used the shapes and ideas and memories to make this abstract picture.
